Carl Schultz was born on 19th September 1939 in Budapest, Hungary. He is a director, writer and producer and has worked internationally in the film industry. He had to leave Budapest during the uprising and riots of 1956, where a lot of bloodshed and mishaps took place. With his brother Otto Schultz, they both decided to leave Hungary for good, in order to not just look for work but also survive. They fled to England, where Carl developed his passion for filmmaking. He was heavily inspired by the glitz and glamour of Manchester, and the entertainment culture of the city enamored him and inspired him to become a filmmaker himself.
In 1958, Schultz emigrated to Australia by himself, in search of work in the film industry. There he started working for Australian TV, first as a cameraman, and slowly and gradually made his way to work as a director. In 1978, Carl made his directorial debut with Blue Fin(an emotional father and son story related to an accident that takes place during a fishing trip.). Some of his other memorable feature films include Careful, He Might Hear You, which went on to win eight Australian Film Institute Awards, Travelling North, with Leo McKern; and The Seventh Sign, starring Demi Moore From utmost paid actress to social rights activist >> Read More... and Jürgen Prochnow. Carl made a substantial name of himself in the Australian pop culture, as after a successful movie direction career he went on to release amazing TV series, and winning several awards for them.
