Richard Alston, born on 30th of October 1948, is a British choreographer and artistic director for the “Ballet Rambert” and “The Place.” His finest works include Windhover in 1972, Soda Lake, and Pulcinella in 1987. Richard's education started at Eton College; then he eventually joined the London School of contemporary dance and London contemporary dance theatre to polish his dancing skills.
In 1980 Richard was appointed as choreographer for Ballet Rambert, where he served for six years. Royal Danish Ballet in 1982, Royal Ballet in 1983,and Michael Clark are some of the keyhighlights during his working period with Ballet Rambert. In the year 1981, Strider, Richard’s dance company merged with Siobhan Davies and Dancers and formed “Second Stride.” This March, Richard’s company got international accreditation from the England council of arts.
