Martin Sheen

Martin Sheen is one of the most well-known actors in the Hollywood film industry and is popularly recognized for his roles in ‘Apocalypse Now’ in 1979, ‘Gandhi’ in 1982 and in ‘The Departed’ in the year 2006, etc. He was born as ‘Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez’ in the year 1940 on the 3rd of August in the city of Dayton in Ohio in the US. He was born into a mixed cultural family of immigrants where his mother, Mary Ann was Irish, and his father, Francisco Estévez Martinez was Spanish. He was born as one among ten children born to his parents and hails from a middle-class family. Martin had polio when he was young and was later cured. 

Martin completed his high school education at Chaminade High School in Dayton in Ohio. As a young boy, Martin was very much inclined towards acting and wanted to pursue it as a career. Martin made his debut in television with ‘Route 66’ in 1961, and in big screen in the year 1967, with the film, ‘The Incident’ as ‘Artie Connors’.

Martin’s role as ‘Timmy Cleary’ in the 1968 film, ‘The Subject Was Rose’ had gotten him nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the ‘Golden Globe Awards’. He won the ‘Golden Globe Award’, ‘ALMA Award’, ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ and ‘Satellite Award’ for his role as ‘Josiah Bartlet’ in the famous television series, ‘The West Wing’ in the years 2000, 2001, and 2002.

Martin got married to Janet Templeton in 1961, on 23rd December and they have four children, Carlos, Emilio, Renee, and Ramon, who are all actors.
