60th National Film Awards The National Film Awards gets presented every year >> Read More... is an award show event that was presented in the year 2013 to award the best films of 2012. This award is presented by the Directorate of Film Festivals every year to the best films of the previous year. This event mainly focuses on the Bollywood films, that is, Hindi cinema as it is the largest film industry in India. The event also recognizes various regional films and actors of the year. The event was held on 3rd May 2013. The show was hosted by the popular movie stars, R. Madhavan and Huma Qureshi.
There is a pre-decided jury who makes the decisions as to which film deserves which award. The show categorizes all movies into feature and non-feature films. The movies that were released in the rime period of 1st January 2012 to 31st December 2012 fall on the evaluation list. For regional films, each region has a separate jury to decide the winners of the films of that region for the year. Through various screenings and judging through various parameters, the jury finally reaches a verdict, and the winners are announced on the day of the main event.
The event also recognizes supporting actors, directors, music composers, lyricists, cinematographers, choreographers and even books written in that year. The jury also takes into consideration various reviews, film critics and commercial and non-commercial successes into account to make an informed decision. The films are also awarded based on various categories like Best Promotional Film, Best Art Film, Best Cultural Film, Best Biopic, Best Film on Social Issues, Best Film on Environment, etc.
There are also special mentions in each category for a film with notable impact and special, touching or unique concepts. A special recognition, The Dadasaheb Phalke award is given as the highest recognition to film personalities for their outstanding contribution and development to Indian cinema during their tenure. The winner of the award that year was an actor, Pran who is known for his eminent performances in negative roles in Hindi cinema. The best feature film award of the year was awarded to the movie, Paan Singh Tomar Click to look into! >> Read More... . The best non-feature film award was given to the movie, Shepherds of the Paradise. The best book award was won by the book, Silent Cinema in India- A Pictorial Journey. The best film-critic award was awarded to P.S Radhakrishnan. These winners receive a shawl and different cash prize for various different categories.
