Shai Heredia is a filmmaker and curator of film art known for An Old Dog’s Diary (2015), I Am Micro (2010) and Camera Threat (2017). She has an interest in the documentary form of films. Her engagement started with the Films Division of India through a research project which she started in the early 2000s. This proved very beneficial for her in both rooting and expanding her practice. Shai did her undergraduate degree from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, in BA Sociology, And her PG Diploma SCM; Sophia College, Mumbai.
She then pursued her interest in cinema and did her MA in Documentary Film – Goldsmiths, University of London. She is very interested in experimental and avant-garde film, documentary film, Asian cinema, curatorial practice, sound art. Talking about her work experience, In 2003, she founded Experimenta, an international festival for experimental cinema in India. She has also conducted various experimental film programmes for festivals worldwide. She currently teaches at the Srishti Institute of Art, Design & Technology.
