Plot
MG Rajendran, an MGR fan is the do-gooder in a slum. His voice is high in the slum and none opposes him. Rocket is the son of MG Rajendaran’s close aide. Rocket is a happy-go-lucky guy, who cares for nothing. He loves Kamala. When Mary enters the slum, things started to change. Not only in the lives of Rocket and Kamala, but the entire slum faces a threat. At a stage Rocket’s father gets killed and the situation turns worse. How did the slum dwellers and their leaders solve the issues and bring back peaceful life forms the rest of the plot!
Star Performance
Parthiban and MS Bhaskar had excelled in their roles as usual. Palak Lalwani did what is needed for her role. Poonam Bajwa should have played a bit, decent. GV Prakash Kumar had done his job well. Yogi Babu’s one-liners are good.
Analysis
Kuppathu Raja didn’t have a big story, but the screenplay makes it interesting. Although it is a debut film, Baba Bhaskar had done his job neatly. The screenplay moves at a quick pace and there is no lag at all. A simple story had been filmed with neat twists and turns and it is interesting to watch GV Prakash as a local boy. The cast is neat and all of them had done justice to their roles. Poonam Bajwa should have been given a better role than the skin-show character. The songs and the BGM are good and BGM gel well with the story. The second half of the film is much entertaining; especially the scenes towards the climax.

Verdict
With the fast screenplay and narration, the director makes the audiences sit in the seats and watch the film without yawning. GV Prakash has once again attempted a new role and had won the hearts of his fans.
