Plot
This movie revolves around an unemployed engineering graduate and an old woman with an inspiring past. Their life are influenced by each other forming the main element of the film.
Star performance
Venkatesh and Rajini Chandy are the main highlights of the movie. They have performed in a realistic way. The role of Venkatesh’s girlfriend played by Bhavya Trikha has performed decently. Even though Santosh Pratap’s role was only for a few minutes, his performance was entertaining. All the cast have performed well in their assigned roles.
Analysis
The director, Dhinesh Palanivel’s idea of narrating a story with many emotions keeps the audience entertained. It takes the audience deep into the characters without trying too hard. The story is engaging. If the screenplay had been organized well by Dhinesh Palanivel, this movie could have been much better. In the first half, the portrayal of Kathir’s back story was the usual break-up story. The director has even brought the good old college days of Kathir. In the second half, the flashback story of Savithri’s life is the turning point of the movie. In this movie, Santosh Pratap is playing a communist role fighting for the farmers and oppressed community. His sequence is interesting to watch. The climax is convincing to the viewers. The cinematography is beautifully done giving the right emotions. The editing of scenes has been perfectly done. The background music suits the emotion of the movie.
The problem with the movie is that it has three stories revolving. The story of Santosh Pratap is lengthy, and a separate movie can be made. The mood keeps varying and that distracts the audience.

Kathir is a Tamil action drama movie written and directed with a full vision of engaging the audience. The flashback of Savitri’s past inspires Kathir to live a full-fledged life. It is a family-entertaining movie. It is a good watch for people who expect to take something memorable from a film.
