Plot
Muthuvel Pandian was a jailer, and after his retirement, he had been enjoying his life with his family. He makes YouTube videos with his grandson. Muthuvel’s son, Arjun, is a cop. He messes up with a smuggler, and as a result, Arjun goes missing, and this increases the tension in Muthuvel’s household. What happened to Arjun? Did Muthuvel make efforts to find his son? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
Superstar rocks in his style, as usual. His walks, cooler style, tiny smiles, body language, and everything he does is just fantabulous. Yogi Babu and Vinayakan’s performances are good. Mohanlal’s cameo is superb, and Shiva Rajkumar is good. Jackie has done a perfect job. Ramya Krishnan is neat in her role, as usual. Mirnaa and Vasanth Ravi have done a decent job.
Analysis
After his Beast, the director had been facing severe criticism on the negative side. But Jailer has put him up with all the Superstar’s fans, praising the director for giving them a Super Rajini treat. Rajini has definitely given a wholesome treat to his fans in respect of comedy and action. His style always excels, and Jailer is not exceptional. Right from his entry to the climax, Rajini tied his fans with his style and performance, and there is no chance of even moving a bit from the seat while watching the film. Though the second half has a light lag from the first half, we can’t conclude it as a boring one. Like in all the films of Superstar Rajini, this movie also has some exceptional performances of supporting stars, like Vinayakan’s. It is really a huge effort to bring in Superstars of Malayalam and Kannada industries and they really add value to the film. The climax is neatly executed. The emotional portions of the film will definitely be the talk of the town. Anirudh’s BGM makes the audience travel with the Jailer throughout. Vijay Kartik Kannan’s visuals are excellent, and Nirmal’s editing is pretty decent.

Verdict
Despite a few lagging portions in the second half, Superstar’s charisma swallows all the negatives. It is a complete entertainer not only for Rajini fans but for all the movie lovers who enjoy dark-comedy action. Give it a try; you’ll definitely enjoy it!
