Plot
Deiva Thirumagal is about a man named Krishna and he has a mental disability. Despite his mental disability he managed to find a job at a chocolate factory. His wife is Banumathy and she is pregnant with a child. He announces this to the people in his village. However, his wife passes away during delivery. Krishna is unable to grasp the concept of death and convinces himself that she has just gone to God. He then names  his child Nila and raises her well. She grows into a happy child. Krishna and his disabled friends find a school for Nila and enroll her into it. She is quick in adapting to the school environment, to the point where she even becomes very close to the school principal and develops a close bond with her. The principal is Shwetha Rajendran, Banumathy’s biological sister. When Shwetha sees Nila’s father she recognizes him as her sister’s husband and suddenly becomes fearful of him. She doesn’t let his daughter stay with him as she is afraid that Krishna might harm his daughter unintentionally. Krishna and Karthik suddenly get into a tussle. Karthik is Shwetha’s fiance. Shwetha’s father breaks up the fight and he also reveals that Basumatary was estranged from him as soon as she decided to marry Krishna. However, he then says that he now considers them as family and offers to take both of them to his home. So the father-daughter duo join Rajendran in a car and Rajendran suddenly kicks Krishna out of the car in the middle of the road. Krishna roams around the city bewildered and worried, asking people whether they have seen his daughter. The rest of the film shows Krishna’s struggle to get his daughter back.
Star Performance
Chiyaan Vikram acts convincingly as the disabled man Krishna.
Anushka has given a graceful performance.
Analysis
The father and daughter have a strong bond that is admirable. Parts of the writing feel overdone and pretentious as though the film-makers are intentionally trying too hard to evoke tears in the audience. The film’s jokes are poor. The film’s editing is good and even the songs in the film are wonderful to listen to but the background music needs more work. The cinematography is done well. The courtroom scenes feel amateurish because the lawyers try to manipulate situations instead of addressing the argument.

All audiences can enjoy this film, especially those who enjoy emotional films, it is also for people who want to understand the struggles of mentally challenged adults.
