joins the Kerala police force as a sub-inspector. One afternoon, he finds that he lost his service revolver in a crowded bus. He starts searching for the gun himself. Things become interesting when Rahul’s service revolver is used in two crimes- a bank robbery and a murder. Rahul is suspended by the higher authorities.Â
What will Rahul do now? Who did the bank robbery and the murder? What is the connection of the missing gun with each character?
Star Performance
Shane Nigam perfectly executed the character of sub-inspector Rahul. He runs the whole film alone in the first thirty minutes. His actions and stunts are superb. His expressions are according to the situation. After Shane, Siddique character of a retired police officer is very appealing to the viewers. His past story makes the viewers emotional. His expressions and dialogue are fantastic. Sandhya Shetty looks terrific in the character of a female senior police officer. After her entry, Shane Nigam’s role is reduced, and she gains all the attention of the viewers.
Shine Tom, who played the role of Pappachan, reduces the film’s tense atmosphere through his comedy. He entertains the viewers very much.
PP Kunhikrishnan shows all the characteristics of a dishonest cop. Gayathrie Shankar and Hannah gave decent performances.
Analysis
Corona Papers has taken several ideas from the 1949 Japanese film Stray Dog, directed by Akira Kurosawa. It is also another version of the Tamil film 8 Thottakkal. The former shows the situation of Japan after the war, while the film Corona Papers shows the conditions of people during Corona time. But the director has made this film totally different. It focuses on a murder, a bank robbery, and a missing gun.
The film builds suspense in the beginning only. The backstory is thrilling and creates a feeling of excitement. It takes the viewers back to the 2020 corona time. The entry of a few characters, such as Shine Tom Chacko and Sandhya Shetty, adds more suspense to the film. The performances of Siddique, Shane Nigam, and Sandhya Shetty hold the film firmly.
