Plot
Dhoomam dwells on a social cause and tries to impart a strong message to the audience. It talks about substance abuse and ill effects through its storyline. The movie focuses on the life of Avinash, a marketing head of a gigantic tobacco company. The story starts by showing Avinash in a boardroom pitching a creative idea to boost sales of their product. Luckily for him, the strategy works for them and they are flooded with new sales.
As Avinash witnesses the glory of success, something tragic takes place. Avi and his wife are both kidnapped by a strange man and secluded on an isolated terrain. To add to their turmoil, they receive some tasks via calls from the kidnapper to complete. In this estranged environment, Avi is forced to do heinous acts that could land him in high trouble.
 Will Avi be able to save himself and his wife?

Star Performances
Dhoomam revolves around the life of Avinash portrayed by Fahadh Fasil. Fahadh’s role as Avi is accurate and he diligently impersonates the intricate layers of his character. His performance is praiseworthy for his efforts and exceptional talent. Aparna Balamurali too gives an outstanding performance. As Avi’s spouse, she delivers a captivating act and compliments Fahadh Fasil’s act too.
Analysis
Dhoomam can be classified as a film that set out to educate and inspire the audience but failed terribly in doing so. It falters in many aspects, be it from ill-written script to sloppy dialogues. The purpose and vision of the movie are great, but it falters when it comes to execution.
In an attempt to impart a social message, this movie lacked the element of intrigue to keep the audience engaged. The script has a huge scope for improvement. The cast included various versatile actors, but their essence was ruined due to emotionless dialogues. The only commendable features include an engaging soundtrack and eye-pleasing cinematography.
