CBFC To Ban Beef References For Once And For All

According to the recent reports, the CBFC is planning to censor all the beef eating references. Following the lawsuit by Haal’s filmmakers, CBFC members have decided to not let the restrictions be limited to just this movie.

But what is the problem? Cow is considered a sacred animal in most of the states of India, except Kerala. The movie was initially scheduled to release around the same time as Lokah and Hridayapoorvam, but has been delayed due to CBFC’s objections over the alleged glorification of beef biryani.

Interestingly, this is not the first movie which has been accused of deliberately provoking religious statements. Mohanlal’s L2 : Empuraan was heavily criticized for a one sided portrayal of the 2002 riots of Gujarat, and several scenes had to be chopped off following a stern reprimand from the CBFC.
