Monsoon Shootout is a non-thrilling movie directed and written by Amit Kumar and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tannishtha Chatterjee. It was a part of Cannes Film Festival 2013 in midnight screening section. Later this was premiered in the whole world in January 2016.
Plot This non-thrilling movie revolves around a person who in confusion to shoot or not. As the raging monsoon lashes Mumbai, the police authority is struggling to catch a gangster. Meanwhile, Adi, who is a principal, rookie cop joins them. He is given his first assignment to get that don arrested.
During his duty hours, he faced a lot of ups and downs and finally managed to catch another culprit Shiva. As Shiva is also a wanted criminal, Adi undergoes a reckoning: to shoot or not. Every decision will take him to a journey which is against the system and demands to give up his principals. He recalls every possible result could be possible after his decision. Finally, he took a decision concluding that whatever decision is taken by him, he will have to pay something good or bad.
Analysis Amit Kumar did his debut as director through this movie. He worked in ‘ Jab We Met’ as assistant director. As this was his first film, he did a good job. He is the first get this idea, to write a story revolving around decision making of a person. Music composer includes Atif Afzal and Gingger Shankar, who are well-known faces of Bollywood. Special effects in this movie are also good. Nawazuddin Siddiqui again proved himself as one of the best actors known. The role of the cop here was very challenging, but he made it. He made this character alive. All n all we can say that the main aim of this story is achieved overall.
Star Performances: Nawazuddin Siddiqui is in the lead role. Once again he proved that he was able to prove that acting runs in his blood. Amit Kumar was successful in direction. Music is just wow . some slow and full of strength music goes tour mind it automatically gets worked up. The cinematography is done by Rajeev Ravi who is a well-known face of film industry did a great job in special effects. Tannishtha Chatterjee is looking phenomenal as always.

What’s not there?
1. Overall performance and proper story-telling were missing.
2. Proper screening and visual effects are not up to the mark.
3. A love story is missing here, which we want to see when a couple is involved.
Verdict: This is the best option for a thrill-loving audience. If you are tired of watching love story based movies and want to try something new, then this is the best idea.
