An attempt to create a thriller that delights as it progresses evidently failing is MISSION ISTANBUL. Starring Zayed Khan Zayed Khan aka Zayed Abbas Khan is the son of the >> Read More... , SunielShetty, VivekOberoi and ShriyaSaran intertwining various stories into one big mission is what the film is all about.
Plot:
The story begins with the very successful Indian journalist VikasSagar, whose personal life is in turmoil, opting for a job at a channel Al Johara in Turkey and leaving the country for a three- month training program. Turkey has an altogether different scene unfolding with the channel head Mr.Ghazni being hideously assuring. The film consists of songs forcefully put and enter peer journalists and a turkey commando played by VivekOberoi. The plot further talks about a fishy 13th floor of the Al Johara building and then there’s this woman who keeps on enticing Vikas who later turns out to be an RAW agent. All in all, it’s a film that’s a mix of action and thrilling sequences not gelled appropriately.
Analysis:
Directed by ApoorvaLakhia, the movie was expected to be as thrilling and entertaining as his previous ventures, which it surely isn’t. The film ends up being a frame of messily set pieces which don’t seem to belong together. The film has it all, action, story and an ensemble cast, but a lousy screenplay fails them all. The film is shot in Turkey, and all the characters except Zayed Khan are Turkish. Ignoring the loopholes too, the film doesn’t sum up to being a coherent whole.
Star Performances:
Zayed Khan tries hard to play his character, which is apparent. VivekOberoi is throughout the movie and seems a bit over the top. None of the characters has got a deep description and has it all seems on a surface, which makes all the performances mediocre.
What’s there?
The film boasts of catchy songs and well-performed action sequences packed with thrill, but it doesn’t seem to help the plot
What’s not there?
Though the film is ferocious in parts, it frickles and end up being ineffective.
Verdict:
It may entertain the audience, but it doesn’t deliver what it promises.
