The movie is a love-hate story. The story is somewhat based on Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. Vanity Fair is about two girls, one rich, the other poor, and how they climb the social ladder. The rich girl is content with her father’s richness, while the poor one is ambitious and impatient to get on the top. Initially, the movie was entirely based on the book, but the script was revised again, and the social dynamics and a small idea were taken from the book. Badtameez Dil is based in contemporary Delhi. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Emraan Hashmi play two manipulative roles both climbing the social ladder. They cross each other’s path and love ensues; not normal goody love, but an edgy don’t-want-to-show-too-much-emotion cut the crap kind of love.
