‘King’s Speech’ is one of those movies that you just can’t miss out on any terms. A completely mesmerizing experience of how a stammering-to-be-coronated King delivers his speech against all odds. To open up a British Empire exhibition, King George V (Sir Michael Gambon) puts his faith in his son, Albert Alias Bertie ( Colin Firth He is well-conceived as a genius actor that can re >> Read More... ), to deliver an opening speech. It is customary for a monarch to open up for supporting a nation who is in terms of war with other nation (nation being Germany), and for that a firm and fear impervious speech has to be delivered. However, our unconfident protagonist shivers out, and then hires a failed Australian actor ( Geoffrey Rush He first appeared in TV Series “Consumer Capers” f >> Read More... ) to make him confident and able enough to deliver a magnificent speech, which he eventually does.
This movie has quite the catch in grandeur as is expected from any English movie, topped with brilliant acts from Colin Firth, to Helena Bonham Carter Helena Bonham Carter CBE is one of the prominent a >> Read More... (a really supporting role that I may like to call out on). Geoffrey Rush, who plays the role of a failed Australian actor, is seen trying to carve a confident speaker out of a very feebly speaker, who is trying to be the King.
One good thing about the King’s Speech is that it is constantly strewn with hope. The viewers may get attached to the characters and might connect with them as well. Helena Bonham Carter’s supporting role as a wife who is always with her husband who already has a neck-wrenching task in front him, helps him by arranging some speech therapists (which she eventually finds in an Australian actor). Every character has aptly justified his/her position in this movie.
The story, if I have to say, is mostly built upon three characters- Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter, or more importantly, just between Firth and Geoffrey. These two, whom the viewers would connect to as the movie goes on, stole the show. Geoffrey Rush dazzles as Logue, who at first is skeptical of his position as a speech therapist for the would-be-King, and how he manages to mend his stuttering attitude and carve out one hell of a confident speaker.
King’s Speech is all about hope and how it stands. Although, that is not the complete essence of the story, with other intertwining subjects of monarchy, and hierarchy also hustling into it. Of course, brilliant piece of acting can be seen by Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush, who make sure that the audience stay stuck to their seats. This is a must-watch movie. If you’ve already seen and enjoyed it, then I don’t know about others, but I would watch it again and again.
