This film is an adaptation of Louis Lowry’s novel, “ The Giver Click to look into! >> Read More... ”. This book was published in 1993, and itself was a patchwork of ideas borrowed from several authors. Director of this movie Philip Noyce stayed faithful to the book while portraying the plots and characters in the movie.
Plot: Jonas, the key character, lives in his own world of contentment. As he starts to spend some time with the Giver, Jeff Bridges Jeff Bridges is a movie actor as well as a produce >> Read More... , he discovers his community’s secret past which has some dark secrets embarked within. The movie is a full-scale portrayal of developing bonds between Bridges and Jonas, who is selected to inherit the great storehouse of memories his community carries. Once armed with knowledge, Jonas realizes he has to leave the place to protect himself and his loved ones.
Analysis: Compared to his previous movie “ Salt Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, the director Philip Noyce has improved his skills since he decides to stick to the book totally this time. But as time proceeds this film gets a bit lost and results in a wobbly climax.
Star Performances: Jeff Bridges give the most noticeable performance in the movie. Coming from a family with a film background, his performance as the Giver is top-notch. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said for Thwaites. He doesn’t seem to make a good impression here as he did in his previous appearance, “Maleficient”.
