Plot
The film is a neo-noir thriller with a collection of sinister stories, with each character playing a role. The El Royale is a hotel where all such mysteries are weaved. A group of individuals is brought together at the hotel, separated by a line between "California" and "Nevada," and what transpires is chaos incarnate as things get violent and destructive with every person's true history being revealed. The characters come to terms with their mysterious pasts. The plot is nonlinear, with multiple characters shedding light on their own backstories. The added subplots, such as the Vietnam War, the Manson Family, and Hoover’s FBI issues, are the pasts of the characters shaping their reality in the El Royale Hotel.
Star Performance
The richly drawn characters of Jeff Bridges add a suspicious tone to moral dilemmas, whereas Dakota Johnson plays the role of a woman with a secret agenda. The performances across the board are stellar, with none being a weak link and Chris Hemsworth stealing the show with his appearance on the screen, and Cynthia Erivo, Jon Hamm, and Lewis Pullman have played the roles of damaged souls in the film.
Analysis
The movie unfolds in a dark and suspenseful tone, exploring the themes of redemption, guilt, and morality. The visuals of the movie display an aesthetic retro 1960s vibe. With the multiple character threads, it becomes difficult to plot the narrative structure. However, it keeps the audience reserved and, on task, continually decodes the film. It takes time to build up the story in the first half of the movie, but as it progresses, it tries to pace up gradually. The added subplots, such as the Vietnam War, the Manson Family, and Hooever’s FBI issues, serve as added digressions in an already prolonged film. It encapsulates all the characters with complex personality-building and offers diverse narratives in the genres of mystery and thriller. The movie keeps the audience engaged by making them connect the dots and keeping their interest alive throughout the movie.

Verdict
The use of dark humour and anticipation is beautifully fabricated in the film. It would be a good watch for those searching for a perfect suspense-filled and mind-engaging movie with a long yet complex storyline.
