The Mersal team had shot some scenes with the animals without the consent of the Animal Welfare Board of India. When the AWBI came to know about this, they made a surprise raid. The Mersal team hid the truth to the AWBI that they used animals. Later, Thenandal Studio Limited admitted the truth and also promised the board that they would not use the scenes with animals. When they approached the AWBI for NOC, the board denied giving and hence the team could not acquire the censor certificate too. Today, the AWBI had an emergency meeting for Mersal. Finally, they decided to grant the NOC. The team received No Object certificate and will get the censor certificate in few hours! Mersal celebration starts!
