The Tamilnadu Government denied renewing the license of the Vedanta Group’s Sterlite Copper Factory. This is the second time, the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board denied renewing Sterlite's license. Earlier, the Tamilnadu Government passed an order to close Sterlite Factory. This order had been canceled on 15th December. The National Green Tribunal, green signaled Vedanta to reopen its factory in Thoothukudi.
Following this, the Vedanta tried to open the factory, but the Tamilnadu government didn’t permit. Now, the Vedanta Group has filed a petition in the Supreme Court to direct the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board to follow the National Green Tribunal’s order. Let’s wait and watch the reply from the SC and Tamilnadu Government!
