Thirumurugan Gandhi
is the organizer of May 17 Movement. He had been in prison from 21st May 2017. Even after the government banned to host a memorial program, Thirumurugan Gandhi and his team tried to break the ban and host a memorial program at Marina. Following this, he was arrested under the Goondas Act. He filed a petition to relieve him from the Goondas Act. The case came to the Madras High Court today and the court adjourned the case to 30th August. May 17 Movement was formed for the cause of Eelam Tamil people’s struggle for separate Tamil Eelam. The movement was named May 17 Movement to denote the day when more than 40, 000 Tamil people were killed in Sri Lanka.
