Recently, a rumor spread widely on the social networking sites that the Tamilnadu Electricity Board had hiked the electricity charges from 1st April and it was also told that a surcharge of Rs. 4 would be collected along with the bill. Now, the Tamilnadu Electricity Board cleared the issue and put rest to the rumors. TNEB stated that they hadn’t announced any price hikes and it is just a rumor. There will be no price hike in the recent years, says the TNEB. Meanwhile, in a recent review survey report, it was stated that the state could make the wind energy production double by 2017 and also the solar energy production too. As per the research by the international research agency, Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), Tamilnadu ranks in the world top tenth position in the renewable energy. If the government and the people use the electricity schemes effectively, then there will be no shortage of power in Tamilnadu.
