‘Amaran’ is Sivakarthikeyan’s attempt to expand his horizons. He is playing the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who had a whirlwind of a journey as an officer, before he was martyred in a counter terrorist operation on 25 April 2014. Major Mukund was posthumously awarded with Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award for his services. Sai Pallavi is playing the role of Indu Rebecca Varghese, Mukund’s love interest and later his wife. The movie is based on ‘India’s Most Fearless’ series, written jointly by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
