Following the massive fire in Chennai Silks in T Nagar, Chennai, twelve workers in the showroom are rescued, so far. Although the firefighters are fighting hard for more than five hours, they couldn’t put off the fire. Due to the fire, the glass doors, decors and the windows are getting cracked. As the fire is from the basement, the stability of the building has become a big question mark, now. The area is announced as the danger zone and the traffic is being routed to some other roads. More than 100 shops in the area are closed and the workers are sent back to their homes. It is reported that several lakhs of clothes and jewelry in Chennai Silks and its jewelry showroom, Sri Kumaran Thanga Maaligai have been destroyed by the fire. The reason for the fire is not yet known.
