When the release date of the film is not officially announced, the official website of LYCA Productions, Darbar producer had updated the release date as 9^th January 2020.

This is what they have posted on LYCA’s site: “Darbar is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Allirajah Subaskaran. The film stars Rajinikanth and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The background score and soundtrack will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematography for the film will be directed by Santhosh Sivan while Sreekar Prasad will serve as editor. Filming began on 9 April 2019, coinciding with a first look poster released by Lyca Productions the same day on Twitter. The film is scheduled for release on 9 January 2020, coinciding with Thai Pongal.”
