Haranath was a popular Telugu actor who hailed from Raparthi in Andhra Pradesh. His full name was Venkata Appala Haranath Raju Buddharaju. He was born in the year 1936 and had two brothers and a sister. He completed his schooling in Madras and finished his graduation of Arts in Kakinada. During his college days, he was an enthusiastic person to participate in extracurricular activities. He was fond of dramas and other cultural programs in his college. He has acted in many dramas in his college and won prizes too. He was a trained pilot. One day, when he attended the pilot training class and returned, he saw the director Gutta Raminedu. At once, the director saw him; he fixed Haranath as a hero in his mind and booked him in his film as a hero. That film was Rushyasrunga. Maa Inti Mahalakshmi was the first film Shot at Saradhi Studios, the popular film studio of Andhra Pradesh and the first hero who acted in that studio was Haranath. He acted in many films, including the historic and spiritual movies. His last movie was Naagu, which released in the year 1984. Haranath died in 1989. His son Srinivas Buddharaju is a film producer and daughter Padmaja is the wife of film producer G.V. G. Raju.
