‘Devara’ might not be exactly the best film in Jr. NTR’s profile. Yet it is on the verge of crossing 400 crores before the occasion of Vijayadashami!
According to the recent reports, ‘Devara: Part 1’ has crossed an impressive 382 crores worldwide, making it an above average grosser. Even the domestic collections have crossed a respectable 250 crores, which means that the film is anything but a flop. Despite mixed reviews, the Hindi version has alone collected nearly 59 crores, which was not expected at all from a movie that had zero support to begin with.
If the film manages to add at least 10-20 crores from domestic collections, ‘Devara’ might end up with a lifetime collection of 270 crores from net domestic collections. Since the budget is between 250-300 crores, this is far from being a bad amount, and the movie has definitely performed way better than Koratala Siva’s previous flick ‘Acharya’, which only collected 75 crores worldwide over a big budget of 140 crores.
With this, NTR Jr. has managed to break the so called ‘SS Rajamouli curse’, even if by the barest of margins. He is only the second lead actor to do so after Nani, who had starred in the much talked about ‘ Eega Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ in 2012.
