Nagalakshmi is basically a stage drama artist with many years of experience in her bag. She started acting in the year 1988. Her family circumstances were such that she had to work and take care of her family. In the year 1995 she entered small screen.

She essayed the negative role in Azhagi serial, she did an important role and her name was Vasantha Durai, wife of the male antagonist Durai of the serial. This serial was remade in another Indian language Telugu as Amma and received applauds from there as well.

She bagged several awards for her roles in various tele series and tamil movie Aarohanam. Though in most of the serials she is offered negative roles, her dream role is acting as a lawyer and wish her dream come true soon. Her interest is cooking and hobbies are listening to music and dancing. She is the younger sister to the renowned South Indian actress Saritha. She is married and has a teenage son.
