Dr.Sharmila

As her title mentions Sharmila is an MBBS graduate who pursued her PG in Hospital Management. Her father Kothandaram owned a pharmaceutical concern and by the virtue of his medical background, Sharmila entered the same line. She was once very studious and brilliant during her school days, which fetched her medical seat. She did her MBBS at the Dr. MGR Medical University.

She debuted as a quiz program anchors on Jaya TV(then JJ TV). She also interviewed celebrities in another show called 'Indha Varam Ivar.' She was offered a role in Vijay TV’s late night series “Pudhira Pudhinama” because of her medical background. This was a question and answer session where a well known Psychiatrist Dr. N. Mathrubootham conducted sex education discussions and where Dr.Sharmila used to read out the letters from the public. She became very famous after taking up that gutsy assignment. Later, Director K. Balachander witnessed her and offered her roles in his tele-serials like “Jannal, Irandaam Chanakyan". She also did TV series such as "Punnagai, Nambikkai, Crime diary” and so on. Through her dressing sense and acting, she has won the hearts of many home makers in Tamilnadu.

She has learned Bharatanatyam for 10 years under guru Nadana Gopalakrishnan, which helps in her acting skills in various ways like showing the correct body language and emotions. She got married to TV production executive Mohan and later got divorced.

With her good acting skills, she has gained opportunity into movies and has done small roles in a few films like Kalyana samyal sadham, citizen etc. She is now looking ahead to get a breakthrough in movies.
