Ganga Sitharasu is an Indian Playback singer. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, she worked with A.R. Rahman. She also collaborated with M.M. Keeravani. Her parents are professors, namely A. Krishnan and Vatsala Krishnan. She learned Carnatic music when she was a child, and her interest in music increased with the help of her Guru Sri Haripad K. She won several inter-school competitions in the field of Carnatic and light music. She went to Chennai with her father in June 1992 to meet composer M.M. Keeravani. She completed her graduation in B.A; English Literature in 1993. She also attained a Diploma in Carnatic Music, Sangeetha Ratna, in 1995 from Music Academy. She joined A.R. Rahman’s chorus and worked in the group singing harmonies. She worked in the films Pudhiya Mannargal in 1993 to Lagaan in 2001.
In 1994 her first song was released, Pakshe from Malayalam movie, where she has sung a duet with K.J; Yesudas. Her first individual song was in Ponmanam in 1997. Ganga is married to V. Sitharasu, who is a photographer in the Tamil film industry. The couple is blessed with two boys. She won the Golden Diva of Playback singing for her 25 years of Playback singing.
