Sudhish Kamath is a film critic, film director, producer and screenwriter. Sudhish Kamath completed his schooling from SBOA School and Junior College located in Chennai. Sudhish completed his higher secondary studies from DAB Boys Senior Secondary School. He pursued the degree of B.Com in 1994 from DG Vaishnav College. He obtained the degree of Masters in Communication from Manipal Institute of Communication. He is an independent filmmaker. He works as a film critic with The Hindu, a daily newspaper. Sudhish first worked as a chief reporter in 1995 with Metro Ads. In 1997, he worked in A.M. Plus for Udayavani’s Morning News. Later, he left this job to work with The Hindu as a film critic in 1999. He reviews Indian films and also takes the interview of Indian celebrities on behalf of the newspaper.
Sudhish Kamath has written, directed and produced three independent films named That Four-Letter Word released in 2006; Good Night Good Morning released in 2010, and X- Past is Present. He also directed and produced the film Side A Side B. It is an indie musical film. Sudhish Kamath signed up for a book on Rajnikanth and his movies with Harper Collins. Sudhish was one of the jury members at the International Children’s Film Festival in 2013 held at Lucknow. Sudhish is known as the youngest person in the 127 years history of The Hindu to be promoted to Senior Assistant Editor at the age of 28. Sudhish created, scripted and hosted Hands Up aired on NDTV. It was a celebrity talk show and was very popular. Sudhish Kamath is the adjunct faculty of Dayananda Sagar University.
He is also one of the alumnus members of Manipal Institute of Communication. According to Sudhish, the foundation for film criticism is exposure to all types of cinema. He said that a critic has to judge and review all kinds of movies. Sudhir said that audience should consider critics as a friend whom they trust and decide whether to watch a movie or not according to their review. Sudhir Kamath thinks that film criticism is only about ratings nowadays. Sudhir said that rating had become so important part of the film reviews that people don’t even bother to read the reviews, they just see the rating of the film. People make the judgment of the movie by the ratings and don't even read the complete review. Sudhir has been working as a film critic for a long period and has excelled in his job.
