Abbas Akbar

Abbas Akbar is an upcoming Tamil screenwriter working in Singapore for Tamil movies. Singapore-born Abbas is of Tamil descent; his parents were born in Chidambaram and Tiruvannamalai, which are situated in the state of Tamil Nadu. His birth name was Mohamed Akbar Tabare Alam.

He started off his cinema journey in the film industry as a junior artist for many local production houses. He is the second son of his family. Both Abbas and Shabir were the winners of a reality show called Vasantham 2005.

The first major work of Abbas was the short film written by him called 'Certain Chapters' which was widely appreciated in many film festivals like Stepping Stone Film Festival in Chennai. The Asian Festival of First Films selected Certain chapters in the category of Best short film. Then along with his brother Shabir he released some independent music videos which were featured on many TV channels.

They did these music videos in collaboration with High Breed Media. Now his first directorial debut Chennai Singapore is an upcoming movie of his which features actor Arya's brother Satya of Amara Kaviyam fame and a newbie Hebah Patel in the lead. It was to be released in 2015 but got delayed.

The crew of this film had planned something out of the box for their audio launch. Since the name of the movie is Chennai Singapore, they have planned to go on a drive from Chennai to Singapore and release each song in each country. The reason why this picture is not released yet is because of lack of money to direct it. So there were reports that Abbas had to sell his house to finish his directorial debut flick.
