M.S. Guhan is the son of noted Indian film producer A.V. M Saravanan who owns AVM Studios in the heart of the Chennai City. AVM Studio. It may be noted that AVM studio ( banner) had its inception in 1948 and so far had produced 190 Indian films in various Indian languages and featured almost all leading heroes of Tamil mainstream cinema.

Later on, the production house concentrated in the production of TV serials. It was later said that the long glory of Tamil Nadu’s AVM banner would split due to the difference of issues among Mr. M. Saravanan and Mr. M. Balasubramanian, who were the sons of late A.V. Meyyappa Chettiar, founder of the film production company.

However, the matter was kept under the carpet and the AVM Production House rolled back some of the most prestigious films since 2002 when M.S Guhan took charge as a co-producer.

It may be noted that M.S.Guhan was influenced much earlier into filmmaking with M. Saravanan and his name was credited with films like Bhakta Prahlada in 1967 and 'Kasethan Kadavulada' released in 1972.

Some of the well-known movies to get rolled out from this AVM Production house under the supervision of M.S. Guhan and his father M. Saravanan include Gemeni ( 2002), 'Evaraina Epudaina' (2009) in Telugu and ' Priyamana Thozhi Priyamana Thozhi started on 19th January 2015. Jay >> Read More... The film fetched national award for singer Chitra ("Ooh La La La...") and S. P. Balasubramaniam ("Thanga Thamarai").

This movie was produced by M. Balasubramanian, M. Saravanan, and M. S. Guhan. The film was released in Hindi version too as 'Sapnay' with the same cast. For the first time after Sivaji, AVM Banner once again joined hands with A R Rahman and invited him to the Board to roll down the film eventually.

In the year 2006, the father and son (Saravanan and Guhan) duo came together again in making the movie ‘Thirupathi’ whose director is Perarasu and producer is AVM Productions. In the year 2007, AVM Banner produced the movie 'Sivaji' which was directed by S. Shankar. This was not the first movie in which superstar Rajinikanth was cast, it may be noted that two superstars of Kollywood Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth were the ultimate search of this production house in churning out hits year after year in 80's and 90's. The film was produced by father-son duo M. Saravanan and M. S. Guhan.

It was actually in the year 2009, M S Guhan worked as a producer for the movie 'Ayan' which had star cast of Suriya, Tamannaah, Prabhu, and Akashdeep Saigal Akashdeep Saigal is a model turned TV actor. This film ‘Ayan’ was dubbed into Hindi (titled - Vidhwanshak - The Destroyer) and Telugu (Veedokkade) and was a huge box office draw even in Andhra and Kerala too.

M. S. Guhan's children Aparna Guhan, Aruna Guhan joined hands with grandpa M. Saravanan and his father and co-produced the movie 'Leader' in 2010. This film marked the debut of Rana Daggubati in acting as the male lead role, with Richa Gangopadhyay and Priya Anand in female lead roles. This film narrated the political struggle of a chief minister’s family.

When 'Sivaji' was released in 3D in Tamil Nadu theatres in 2012, the producer M.S. Guhan scouted for more 3D screens for successful screening of the movie in the theatres. M.S. Guhan came to the forefront in converting 50 more theatres in Tamil Nadu to ensure proper screening of the 3-D version of ‘Sivaji’.

Sivaji 3D', released in cinemas on Dec 12, and is considered to be the first film in India to be launched in the new sound format called Dolby Atmos. M.S, Guhan can hence take pride in bringing the new technology for the first time in India.

It may be noted that AVM production house is still a pride of Tamil, Telugu, Hindi movies and M.Saravanan has produced over 35 movies in his lifespan.
