Padmalatha Ramanand is a South Indian playback singer. She was born on 15th of August in the southern metropolitan city, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has sung over 500 songs for more than 150 films that include her work in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Tulu. Apart from the songs, Padmalatha also takes interest in gingles, devotionals, and albums.

Her talent has fetched her many awards including President’s gold medal in All India Radio Music Competition. Some of her songs were also remarked by, BBC Asian network, in its top songs list. Padmalatha was born and brought up in Chennai. She did her schooling from GRT Mahalakshmi Vidyalaya and later graduated from University of Madras, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Her first stage performance was at the age of just 5. She performed then, with her mother standing beside her. She is well trained in the Carnatic, Hindustani and western vocal. She has done two grades in piano. Padmalatha Ramanand had to face years of struggle before the South Indian music industry, recognized her talent. But later she has proved her versatility by singing songs in six different languages and by singing the same song in different styles. Her first ever song was ‘Kuruvama,’which was a duet with Harish Raghavendra and was released back in 2006.

However, she got her first hit song after years of her debut into the industry. It was in 2016 when her song ‘Kannala Kannala’ from the movie ‘ Thani Oruvan’ was released. ‘Kadhale Kadhale’from the movie ‘Indru Nettu’is her another great work in Tamil. She has sung many top rated songs for the popular South Indian music industry’s composer, ‘Ghibran.’ She recorded this song in different styles, which was later patched to become a great piece of music. In the next few years, her songs ‘ChoosaChoosa,’ ‘Chali gaali’ and ‘Ghandhaari yaaro’ became blockbuster hits in Telugu cinema.

This brought her some more big project. Her song ‘inayae’from movie ‘ Thadam’ got into the top songs list of BBC Asian network. In the field of music, Padmalatha has successfully grabbed many achievements for herself. She has been recognized by All India Radio as an A-grade artist.

She has also received Mirchi music award in Telugu in 2017 at Hyderabad for the song ‘Chali gaali’ from the Telugu movie ‘ Gentleman’ which was released in 2016 and was a huge hit.
