Darshana KT

Darshana KT is a playback singer of Bollywood and Tamil films. She had released many albums and sung for many prestigious movies, during her career. She was born on 6th November in Chennai, India. She's currently residing in Chicago, but she travels back and forth to India for her work. She's a dedicated and hardworking woman, considers herself as a workaholic. She schooled in Kuwait, Gulf. Later she came back to Chennai for further studies. She did her graduation and Journalism and Media from Vaishnav College, Chennai. Also, she received a degree of masters from the college called Loyola College in Chennai and did Media Presentation/Production.

During her studies, she got an interesting opportunity to work for Gauthami Tadimalla for a year as her assistant in The Hindu. Darshana started singing at an early age and received much appreciation from the people. From the age of five, she did many stage shows in Kuwait, Gulf. People started to acknowledge her from one of her shows called Ilayaraja Night (2002), not only that she had an opportunity to perform with Maestro. In 1999, she played two shows with Mano who is a playback singer. When she moved back to Chennai to pursue her studies she recorded Jingles for some leading companies in 2003.

iIn 2004-2006, she worked as a backup singer for many TV shows like Selvi and Annamalai. During her initial days, she performed on many albums and sang in Manikanth Kadrigopalnath, Veena Maestro Rajesh Vaidya’s fusion Albums, and the son of saxophone maestro Kadri Gopalnath Bio coming soon... >> Read More... . Music was always with her since her childhood days so she decided to pursue her career in that. A.R. Rahman (Oscar Winner) scored her first break for the movie Shivaji- The Boss. She was also a part of Times Now Show of A.R.Rahman in 2008 held in Chennai. She has completed Level 2 (Jazz Vocals) Old Town School of Folk Music and pursued Carnatic & Hindustani Music.

Darshana KT has received many awards for her work and got nominated for her song Maduraikku Pogathadi in Azhagiya Thamizh Magan movie in 55th Filmfare awards. She also won My Tamizh Movie Awards in 2007.She released many single albums and became an Independent song composer and writer Some of the movies in which she sang are- In 2007, she sang Azhagiya Thamizh Magan (Tamil), Athidhi (Telugu), Guru (Telugu and Hindi), and Shivaji – The Boss (Tamil & Hindi). From 2008 to 2012 she sang for the films Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (Hindi), Yuvvraaj (Hindi), Blue (Hindi), Vedigundu Murugesan (Tamil), Kanchana: Muni 2 (Tamil), Ponnar Shankar (Tamil), Udhayan (Tamil), and Pizza (Tamil). From 2015 onwards she sang for many Tamil and Telugu movies like OK Bangaram (Telugu), O Kadhal Kanmani (Tamil), and Bairavaa (Tamil). Her two single albums released in the year 2012 and 2014.
