Vedha is an Indian music director who worked predominantly in the Kollywood film industry in the 1950s-60s period. Born S.S. Vedhasalam, he started working in the film industry with the 1950s Sinhala films and then Tamil industry. He provided the music for the 1950s Sinhala films of Jayamanne that gained much critical acclaim. With 25 years of experience in the Tamil music industry, he was popularly known for adapting Hindi tunes to Tamil songs. 

Vedha initially worked for Ceylon Theatres and then had a long-term association with Modern Theatres. He started his film career as a co-music director in the Tamil film ' Menaka Menaka was a renowned heroine of South India durin >> Read More... .' Released in 1955, he worked along with T.G. Lingappa and C.N. Pandurangan. 

His first independent work as a music director was in the 1956 Tamil film 'Marma Veeran.' Directed by DR Raghunath, the romantic song 'Thudikkum Vaalibame' from the movie, sung by R. Balasaraswati Devi, was highly popular during the time.

Vedha composed the song 'Dingiri Dingale' from the 1958 film 'Anbu Enge.' Sung by T.M. Soundararajan and P. Susheela, the tune is of the Baila genre. He also composed the popular song 'Oraayiram Paarvaiyile' from the 1965 Tamil film ' Vallavanukku Vallavan Vallavanukku Vallavan is a Tamil language TV show >> Read More... .'  Although the tune was from Hindi, the beautiful Tamil lyrics by Kannadasan and the melodious voice of T.M. Soundararajan made it sound original.  

Vedha made his debut in the Telugu music industry with the 1966 movie 'Aame Evaru?' Directed by B.S. Narayana, the psychological thriller is a remake of the 1964 Hindi film 'Woh Kaun Thi?' His last release is the 1971 Tamil film 'Justice Viswanathan.' Directed by G.R. Nathan, it is a remake of the 1969 Hindi film 'Do Bhai.' 

Other films he composed music for are 'Sollu Thambi Sollu' (1959), 'Parthiban Kanavu' (1960), 'Kannadi Maaligai' (1962), 'Konjum Kumari' (1963), 'Pasamum  Nesamum' (1964), 'Oru Viral' (1965), 'Yaar Nee?' (1966), 'Kadhalithal Podhuma' (1967), and 'CID Shankar' (1970).
