Chitrapu Narayana Rao was by profession an Indian film producer and director. He is commonly known for his commendable works in Telugu and Tamil Film Industry. He has achieved many awards and certificates for his work. He has won the Nandi Award for his Telugu film Bhakta Prahlada. He achieved a Certificate of appreciation for the category of Third Best Tamil Film for Edhir Paradhathu and Annaiyin Aanai. Rao took birth in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
At the commencement of his profession, he used to assist his younger brother Chitrapu Narasimha Rao in films like Sati Tulasi, Mohini Rukhmangadha, and few more. His debut as a filmmaker was with Bhakta Markandeya starring Vemuri Gaggayya and Sriranjani. The film got him acclaim for his directorial excellence. He afterward directed numerous movies like Bhakta Prahlada, Bheeshma, Myravana, in Telugu and Tamil languages. He has served as a producer for the film Krishna Kuchela in 1961. But it didn’t do fine among the audience, and that caused him financial crises.
To retrieve his status, he delivered a movie for AVM Productions. They started putting the best efforts on Bhakta Prahlada in 1965. It was for the first time he presented the motion picture in Eastman color, and it fitted out to be far better than the Black and White version he had made 25 years earlier. The co-writer for the same was D. V. Narasa Raju. The film was an immense hit in the box office.
