S. N. Lakshmi is a late Tamil actress who appeared in films and television serials. She died in February 2012 at the age of 85. She has acted in more than 1500 films and thousands of plays. She was born into a Thevar household as the 13th child of the family, but her childhood was not beautiful, and she left her home when she was 11. Her neighbor who was a popular dancer got her into drama troupe. She then by chance landed at Madras, where she was showed the way to Gemini Studios, which helped her. She then played roles in dramas of veterans like N. S. Krishnan, K. Balachander, etc. 

She was an adventurous and a brave woman, who did not hesitate to play stuntman roles for male actors and also is known to have fought a leopard on screen in MGR’s 'Baghdad Thirudan' movie. She played in drama troupes when Nagesh recommended her to K. Balachander for a role in the comedy riot Server Sundaram that saw Nagesh in the lead role. Incidentally, Lakshmi also played in the same role in the drama version from which the movie was adapted. Impressed by her performances, Kamal Haasan roped her in to play characters in his movie Thevar Magan, Virumaandi, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Mahanadhi, etc. It is said Kamal Haasan is so confident about her that he has never helped her with dialogues when he is the director because he was sure she could pull off any script with perfection.

She has acted in almost all top actors and her recent films saw her with young actors as well like Silambattam, Kuruvi, Drohi, Pirivom Sandhippom, etc. She was unmarried throughout and loved being alone and loved driving her car when she had free time and always thought marriage was not for her, but loved her brother’s children when they came over to her place. She was essaying poignant roles as Meenakshi’s grandmother in the hit serial ‘Saravanan Meenatchi’ that aired on Vijay TV and Thulasi’s grandmother in ‘ Thendral’ serial on Sun TV when she passed away after a cardiac arrest in February 2012.

Sachu is a veteran Tamil actress, who was born and brought up in an orthodox family in Mylapore, Chennai. She was born as Saraswathi in 1948 and was introduced to acting at an early age of 4 and has been active ever since. Her family had musicians, lawyers, etc. but no actress,  hence she found it difficult to convince her Orthodox father to accept her profession. She has acted in hundreds of films in over five languages and also acted in a few serials on television. She predominantly plays a supportive role or as a comedienne in almost all of her movies.   Her first movie was 'Rani' in which she acted at the age of 4 and went on to act in stage plays through the years and has made a big mark in the industry. Sachu replaced the space left by the absence of Baby Saroja, and her performances were adored by the Tamil audience. She then performed with stars of the Tamil industry like Padmini, Savithri, Anjali Devi, etc. She then had her big breakthrough in ‘Maya Bazaar’ where she played Kutty Valsala and reached far and wide through the audience. She also played in the legendary ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai’ as a comedienne alongside greats like Muthuraman, Nagesh, M. R. Radha, ‘Thengai’ Srinivasan, etc. She took to playing plays and dramas in the 1970s and played her first play in playwright and director PVR’s ‘Neerottam’. Since then she has acted in several plays and movies alongside Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Nagesh, etc.  Later in the 1980s, she played with younger stars like Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth and in the next decade, we saw her play roles alongside the next generation of Vijay, Surya, Karthik, etc. She then moved on to the small screen, television serials in the 2000s. She played a comedienne in ‘Maanbumigu Mayor’, ‘Dinesh Ganesh’, and ‘Veettukku Veedu Looty’ taking her name to higher levels of versatility. She was awarded the 'Kalaimamani' award in 1991 by the then Chief Minister J Jayalalitha.



Indraja is a popular artist from Tamil Nadu who has acted in number of Tamil and Telugu movies including some serials. Both films failed in becoming a hit. But some of her Malayalam films were a hit in which she did the major roles. She also performed in some TV serials like Sundarakanda, Bhairavi and Valli. Some of her films are Vaddu Bava Tappu, Hello Brother, Subhamasthu, Once More, Thadayam, Chinnabbayi, Velai, The Godman, Independence, F.I.R, Ustaad, Prathyartha, Sradha, Chronic Bachelor, War and Love, Engal Anna, Ben Johnson, and a lot more.  Indraja always expresses her views openly. She mentioned that it is essential to know what’s in a Persons mind otherwise it will be hard to continue having pleasant relationships in the film industry. She also has an extreme respect for her profession since she gained awards, name and wealth on it. Her goal is to maintain her position as an actress and continue doing good performances.
