Mathivanan Rajendran is an Indian Film and Stage Director, Director and a Media Producer. He was born on 12 January, in Pudukkottai, a small town in Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his automobile engineering from Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering, Chennai. He also holds a master’s degree in Industrial Training from Virginia Tech.
He is the founder of Stray Factory which he started as a base for his works. He is well known for his work in Tamil movies like Mayakkam Enna and Sawaari. He is also the co-founder of Rascals, a popular YouTube channel in South India. He also produced web series named as Black Sheep and many more. Mathivanan Rajendran is a prominent actor who worked in many Tamil movies.
He worked in “Mayakkam Enna,” which was released in 2011, directed by Selvaraghavan, starring Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay, “Sawari,” which was released in 2016, directed by Guhan Senniappan, starring Benito Franklin, Sanam Shetty, Karthik Yogi, and Mathivanan Rajendran, and “Andhra Mess,” directed by Jai, starring Rah Bharnathn, Thejaswini, Pooja Devariya, Mathivanan, Vinoth and AP Shreethat.
The movie is under production and is scheduled to release by the end of 2018. He founded ‘Stray factory’ in 2012. It is a Performance Arts and Digital Media Company, Chennai. He also worked as a Producer for many prominent web series such as “Black Sheep,” “Stray Stories, “Nasir” (under-production) and “The Displace (Under-production).
“Black Sheep” is the web series in English/Tamil language, which is based o the story of a college dropout Shyam Rajendran and his journey to find himself through standup comedy. “Stray Stories” is a web series also, docu-series of The First Engineer from the Narikurava Community who is also a gold medalist at the world Street Games, A walk down the Forgotten Armenian street.
This is the documentary series about lesser-known communities from South India. Other of his production, “Nasir” and “The Displace” is under production and are supposed to be released by the end of2018. He is also co-founder of a YouTube channel Rascals, an online platform for South Indian content.
They post unique content (stories) and vines along with the Documentaries and Web Series. He also directed many plays such as “My name is Cine-maa,” “Who Is you Osama,” and “Carpouram”. These plays were played across the globe in many festivals such as National Arts Festival and Hollywood Fringe Festivals.
