T. S. B. K. Moulee is a Tamil television and film actor and director. He is widely known for playing Chockalingam in ‘ Nadhaswaram’ - a mega serial that airs on Sun TV. Moulee plays a very important character and has made a stellar comeback to acting through serials. He is not just an actor, but also a great director, having worked with great stars like Kamal Haasan, Madhavan among many others. He has directed over 30 films and has acted in around 40 films till date.


 Although he pursued and completed his engineering degree, he was always passionate about acting and staging plays and writing scripts for the same. When 'Chevalier Shivaji Ganesan' was to be felicitated for receiving the Padma Shri award, Moulee, then only 19-years old, wrote an entire 45-minute long play for the event. While at college, he was a part of Y. G. Parthasarathy's drama troupe ‘United Artists Association’. He was playing in several roles and writing plays, but his first break and wide recognition came through his play ‘Flight No.172’, in which he acted and wrote the screenplay as well. The play was first staged in 1969 and then ran for thirty consecutive years. 

Director K Balachander was a big fan of his writing and used to come to his plays and once even asked him to write a separate comedy track for his film ‘Arangetram.' Although Moulee didn’t accept the offer then, he later went on to direct ‘Annae Annae’ and ‘Oru Pullanguzhal Aduppudhugiradhu’ under the K Balachander banner. Moulee is known for directing Kamal Haasan in the comedy flick hit, ‘Pammal K Sambandam’ and Madhavan in ‘Nala Damayanthi’. He has till date directed several movies and received the ‘Kalai-mamani’ award from the Tamil Nadu government for ‘Best Writer’ category. More recently, apart form his pivotal role in ‘Nadhaswaram’ he has also acted in supportive roles in movies like ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’, ‘ Kadhal 2 Kalyanam’, ‘Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam’, etc.

Thirumurugan

Thirumurugan is a Tamil television serial director, actor and a film director. He became an instant hit with the Tamil audience with his very first venture in serials, ‘Metti Oli’. It saw him play one of the lead roles alongside veterans in the serial industry like Delhi Kumar, Shanti Williams, Bose Venkat, etc. The show brought him huge popularity and people loved the natural and poignant portrayal of the serial. Metti Oli ran for a whopping 1300 odd episodes for more than three years on Sun TV and grossed un-imaginable TRP ratings and was on top of the serial TV rankings for a very long time.  Thirumurugan was lauded for his efforts as a director and an actor. Riding on Metti Oli’s success he went on to direct ‘Em Magan’ which was a wonderful portrayal of a caring father and his family which saw Nasser, Bharath, Saranya Ponvannan and Vadivelu in important roles. Em Magan saw him bag the Tamil Nadu award for the Best Director. The film also received widely positive responses from all critics. But his next venture Muniyandi Vilangial Moonramandu in 2008 didn’t do well at the box office. He then moved to doing serials again with ‘Nadhaswaram’ in 2010 which is running till date which has T S B K Moulee, Poovilangu Mohan and others in important roles and also has Thirumurugan himself in one of the pivotal characters. He won the 'Sun Kudumbam Award' for the Best Actor in 2012 for his role in Nadhaswaram. He also did a short serial on Sun TV for a couple of years in 2013-2014 titled ‘Then Nilavu’.
