T. S. B. K. Moulee is a Tamil television and film actor and director. He is widely known for playing Chockalingam in ‘
Nadhaswaram’ - a mega serial that airs on Sun TV. Moulee plays a very important character and has made a stellar comeback to acting through serials. He is not just an actor, but also a great director, having worked with great stars like
Kamal Haasan, Madhavan among many others. He has directed over 30 films and has acted in around 40 films till date.
Although he pursued and completed his engineering degree, he was always passionate about acting and staging plays and writing scripts for the same. When 'Chevalier Shivaji Ganesan' was to be felicitated for receiving the Padma Shri award, Moulee, then only 19-years old, wrote an entire 45-minute long play for the event. While at college, he was a part of Y. G. Parthasarathy's drama troupe ‘United Artists Association’. He was playing in several roles and writing plays, but his first break and wide recognition came through his play ‘Flight No.172’, in which he acted and wrote the screenplay as well. The play was first staged in 1969 and then ran for thirty consecutive years.
Director K Balachander was a big fan of his writing and used to come to his plays and once even asked him to write a separate comedy track for his film ‘Arangetram.' Although Moulee didn’t accept the offer then, he later went on to direct ‘Annae Annae’ and ‘Oru Pullanguzhal Aduppudhugiradhu’ under the K Balachander banner. Moulee is known for directing Kamal Haasan in the comedy flick hit, ‘Pammal K Sambandam’ and Madhavan in ‘Nala Damayanthi’. He has till date directed several movies and received the ‘Kalai-mamani’ award from the Tamil Nadu government for ‘Best Writer’ category. More recently, apart form his pivotal role in ‘Nadhaswaram’ he has also acted in supportive roles in movies like ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’, ‘
Kadhal 2 Kalyanam’, ‘Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam’, etc.
