S. P. Muthuraman is an indian director in tamil film industry. Muthuraman was born on the 7th of april 1935. He was born in karaikudi, tamil nadu. His father’s name is karaikudi subbiah. His father was an mlc. His mother’s name is visalakshi. He has a younger brother whose name is suba veerapandian. His brother is a professor.
Muthuraman started his career in the film industry as an editor. Later he also worked as an assitant director for a few films. He has his debut as a director with the film “kanimuthu paappa” (1972). He later directed films like “kasi yathrai” (1973), “engamma sapatham” (1974), “aadu puli attam” (1977), “pokkiri raja” (1982), and many more.
He also produced a film named “pandian” (1992). Muthuraman directed the film as well. He worked with many stars like rajinikanth, kamal haasan, sridevi, radha, ambika, and a few more. He repeatedly worked with most of the same cast in his films.
He won two filmfare awards south for best direction for the films “oru oodhappu kan smittugiradhu” (1977) & “bhuvana oru kelvi kuri (1978), and one for lifetime achievement (2012). He won tamil nadu state film award for best director for the film “aarilirunthu arubathu varai” (1979).
