R. T. Neason is an eminent Indian writer and film director. He was born on July 5, 1972, in Bodinayakannur, Tamil Nadu in India. He studied at Sainik School Amaravathinagar, Tamil Nadu and later took Bachelor in Commerce at the Madras University. He also took Direction and Screenplay Specialization at the Film and Television Institute of Madras. Neason is married to Lakshmi, and they have two daughters namely Akshara and Adithi. He has been an assistant director to Tamil film director,
Vincent Selva and has worked in films like Iraniyan (1999),
Prematho Raa (2001), Thavasi (2001), and Ondagona Baa (2003). In 2007, he penned and directed the Tamil film, Muruga, which stars Ashok,
Shruti Sharma and Samiksha in the lead roles.
This film marks his debut as a film writer and director in the Tamil cinema. He worked on the screenplay and the second unit director of M. Raja’s Tamil masala film, Velayudham, in 2011. His breakthrough came in the year 2014 after he wrote and helmed the box-office action comedy-drama film, Jilla. The film stars Mohanlal, Vijay, and
Sampath Raj. In 2015, it was reported that he will be doing a trilingual (Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam) film, which will star A-list actors like Mohanlal and
Mahesh Babu in the lead role. This film will mark Mahesh Babu’s debut in the Tamil film industry, and Mohanlal will play a crucial role.
