The film had a powerful message and was taken exceptionally well. Slowly, word of mouth spread and theaters became housefull. The movie fetched the Director an Award from the Human Rights Organization for making a film with a message that utmost needed in this period. The movie dealt with a road accident.

He gave his career a start by being an assistant director of A.R.Murugadoss. He directed the Telugu film Ganesh, in 2009. His first Tamil film was 'Engeyum Eppodhum’ in association with Fox Star Studios, produced by his mentor A.R. Murugadoss in 2011. The film was a great success and gained a very positive response. For directing Engeyum Eppodhum Human Rights Organization honored Saravanan with an award for directing the film with a very relevant social message which was the need of the hour.
In 2013 he directed ‘Ivan Veramathiri’, ‘Valiyavan’ in 2015, and ‘Chakravyuha' in 2016 in Kannada. Engeyum Eppodhum was the most successful film of his career, which won awards and got nominated for many awards. The film made Saravanan won the Edison Award 2012 for Best Debut Director and won the 1st South Indian International Movie Awards for Best Debut Director. The film got nominated for the 6th Vijay Awards in the category of Best Director and Best Story and Screenplay Writer.
