Thambi Ramaiah

Thambi Ramaiah, an Indian film actor, and director is considered as the busiest actors in Kollywod appearing in maximum movies that released in 2014. Once upon a time, he did not even how to make a foray into Kollywood. Anticipating for someone to give a chance in films, he had to wait till his luck could get him a status of an actor.  Things changed when he got the national best-supporting actor in the year for ‘Mynaa’ (released 2010). But he had to wait till 2013-14 when he was at the peak of a career. He works for up to four films a day and even stays 25 days (2013-14) on location for shooting his various films that were under production. He took in-charge of his make-up and costumes in the films that he starred the most.  From a small beginning, the actor had come a long way. When he was just in the age of 20, he came to Chennai to become a screenwriter. As his father was a poet, he felt he could get a break, but that did not happen. Due to lack of any contacts in the film industry, he had worked in a private company for nine years.  It was only in 1994 that he got a job as a dialogue writer for a serial in Sun TV. Later, he got an overall opportunity to become an assistant director, script writer and lyricist in TV serial. Looking for a further break in the big screen, he got an opportunity to meet P. Vasu and T Rajendar, who helped him to grow up as an assistant director in their respective films.  Even today, he considers P Vasu as his mentor in screenplay writing. He appeared in a cameo for Vasu’s film ‘Malabar Police’ (1999) with Gowndamani. Next year, he got his first directorial debut as an independent director to direct Napoleon and Murali in ‘Manu Needhi (2000). Meantime, he had concentrated in doing some supporting roles in few films that came on his way and even directed a Vadivelu starrer’ Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan’ (2008).  Due to his busy schedule later on, he never wielded his megaphone again in the directorial venture after 2008. He is known for writing dialogues for comedy scenes of Vadivelu. He associated with this celebrated comedian for a long innings. People have appreciated him for his varied roles in ‘ Kumki’, ‘Saatai’, ‘Kazhugu’, ‘Vaagai Sooda Va’,’ Osthi’, ‘Vettai’, and other movies.

Robo Shankar

Robo Shankar is an upcoming comedian artiste in the Tamil cinema who was noticed as a mimicry artist in ‘’Rowtrhiram’’, that released in 2011. But while editing the movie, his role was cut fully, and the actor could not get any recognition.  As a comedian, he works very hard on the scripts and found that needed updating with the trending talks of today’s youth has become very necessary to understand the pulse of the audience to pull them to the screen. In order to be a successful comedian, he feels, one artist has to update himself with trending talks of youths witnessed in college and even schools.  The actor feels that today’s audiences are smart enough and it is harder to make them laugh in theatre. Basically, the actor analyses what whatever today’s youth wants, he perfects his role in that manner. After his comedy scenes were cut in ‘Rowtrhiram’, he got a real break in Gokul’s “Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara’’ (2013) as Pasupathi's henchman. Post ‘Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara’, Balaji Mohan offered actor Ravi Mohan a big role in’ Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’.  He also played a drunkard role in ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’ (2014) which was liked by audiences. Later on, he got an offer in ‘Maari’ with Dhanush where he gets all the freedom to try anything new on the spot. It is said that Maari has changed his life entirely. This movie has given him the perfect break and many people have started recognizing his talent after ‘Maari’.  Dhanush had helped this talented guy to come up in his life (cinema). Dhanush used to praise this new comer and admired him for his spontaneity in the sets. That is why this actor always wants to see himself as a comedian who would entertain people to the core and even he wants to see that people smile and get entertained.  The film Maari also helped him to develop friendship with Dhanush. He expects his role in Vijay’s latest flick “Puli” will get notices as this film will be a complete family entertainer. He says that he has not played any such character like what he played in Puli till date and children will enjoy his role in screen. The actor is also a huge fan of Vijay. He feels that Vijay has a very stylish smile. This comedian has also had some hit movies in 2015, such as ‘Maya’, ‘Strawbeery’, ‘Yatchan’ and ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’.
