Kala Master

Kala is an Indian choreographer and a reality TV show judge who was born on 5 February 1971 in Chennai. One of south India's leading choreographer and national award winner Kala entered into the film world at the age of 12 in 1982. While she was in seventh standard she dropped out from school in order to pursue her natural interest in choreography. Kala, the veteran dance master of south Indian cinema was affectionately known as Kala master among all the industry people.

After a brief stint as an assistant choreographer with Raghu master, she got a break in Punnagai Mannan. Her continued and untiring efforts since then, took her all the way forward and she choreographed over 3000 songs in various languages including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Oriya, English, Kannada, Italian and Japanese. She has worked with directors like K. S. Ravikumar, Kamal Haasan, K. Balachander, Fazil , Priyadarashan, Mani Ratnam and the filmography contains names like  'PranayaVarnangkal' ,'Roja', 'Vaaname Ellai', 'Pasa Kiligal', ' Chandramukhi Chandramukhi was a super hit serial which was tele >> Read More... Kala was so popular as a choreographer that she was entrusted with the task of judging as many as 300 shows in India and overseas including US, UK, Australia, Dubai, etc. Not only this, she choreographed various dancing styles for beauty pageant such as one for Miss World 1996 held in Bengaluru. Amongst her major dance shows are Chandramukhi show and Japan Expo dance show.

The 'Natiya Tharagai' awardee Kala has many more awards to her name including the filmfare awards and screen awards for her brilliant performance as a choreographer. Her malayalam movie 'Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal' fetched her the National Award from the then Indian president K.R. Narayanan.
