The Journey From Screenplay To Illustrations
A storyboard artist is the one who converts the director’s ideas into the reality. With great cinematic knowledge, they study the script well and gather all the demands from the filmmaker and turn it into images. They have amazing drawing skills and turn the screenplay into an array of illustrations. They communicate to the director, for their approval as well as demands regarding the visual or scenic appearance of a particular scene. They are artistic and well aware of the perspective drawing(three dimensional).
They present some hand-drawn images to the director, which are inspired by the director's ideas and the script, and shortlist's the ones which are the closest to the script. These images can be used as a part of the teaser or trailer of the film once everything is wrapped up. These images are often referred to by the Foley artists and editor to merge the sounds and their corresponding pictures, and hence achieve time synchronization.
