Born on 18th January 1985 to Punjabi speaking Sikh family of S. Kewal Lamba and Manju Lamba in
, Minissha made her Bollywood Debut in the year 2005. She has completed her schooling from Chettinad Vidyashram School, Chennai, and Army Public School, Srinagar. She completed her Majors in English at Miranda College, Delhi University, New Delhi in 2004. Initially, she planned to pursue a career in Journalism, but that was not what was written for her!
In her college days, Minissha had done ads for various brands like LG, Sony, Airtel, Hajmola, Cadbury, Sunsilk, etc. While doing an ad film for Cadbury, she was approached by director Shoojit Sarkar, who then signed her for his film. Her first film was Yahan, which came out in 2005. She was nominated for the Best Debutante at the Filmfare Awards function. Apart from that, she worked in many films.
In 2006, Minissha played the role of Megha Apte in Corporate. She did Rocky: The Rebel and Anthony Kaun Hai in the same year. She played the role of Zara in Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. alongside
in 2007. She was also seen in Dus Kahaniya in 2007. In 2008, she played the character of Mahi, Ranbir Kapoor’s first love interest in

Apart from movies, Minissha has appeared in Himesh Reshammiya’s song, “TERA SUROOR” from his all-time favorite album Aap Kaa Surroor, which was loved by many. She also made an appearance at
