Yamuna is a Malayalam serial and film actress, known for her supporting character roles. Yamuna is more popular among the family audience for her negative roles in the teleserials.
Yamuna hails from Kollam district of Kerala. Yamuna started her acting career through an album song for Onam in Doordarshan Malayalam in the late 1990s. She had her debut in Malayalam movies through a Mega star Mammootty movie, Stalin Sivadas in 1997, in which she did as small role. Yamuna got noticed by her negative role in Vayalar Madhavan Kutty’s celebrated serial, Jwalayayi, which was produced by Megastar Mammootty and broadcasted in Doordarshan Malayalam in 2000-2002 over 500 episodes. Yamuna’s role was noticed in director Lal Jose's celebrated Dileep movie Meesa Madhavan in 2002, in which she played the sister-in-law of Dileep. There on she played character roles in Director Vinayan’s War and Love (2003) and Meerayude Dukhavum Muthuvinte Swapnavum (2003). She had a long career break for 6 years after which she made a comeback in director Johny Antony’s Ee Pattanathil Bhootham(2009). Since 2011 Yamuna is active in TV serials. Yamuna was a part of the popular serial Amma, directed by Adityan, which has completed more than 700 episodes on Asianet from 2011-2014. Yamuna has done the character of Mohini, Vidhyasagar’s wife in the serial. She is also acting in serials Amala (Mazhavil Manorama), Nirakkottu (Kairali TV) and Chandanamazha (Asianet). In Chandanamazha, she plays the role of Madhumathi, mother in law character of Varsha, the protagonist. She has gained popularity through this role.
In personal life, Yamuna is married to Malayalam film director S B Mahesh. They have two kids.
