Ravi Vallathol is a film cum serial actor born in 1952 at Malappuram district of Kerala and is the nephew of famous Mahakavi Vallathol Narayana Menon. His father T.N Gopinathan Nair was a famous writer and written scripts for many dramas. From the school time itself Ravi started acting in dramas etc. , the famous Malayalam actor was his schoolmate and both did drams together in school time.

His did his first writing venture for Revathikkoru Pavakkutty, which was later made as movie by Sathyan Anthickad. After that, when Doordarshan started in Trivandrum he got many opportunities in television serials and that gave him a turning point in his life .He made his first debut as a tailor in the serial Vaitharani scripted by his father T.N Gopinathan itself. Later he got many serials back to back and all the characters’ he played were accepted by the Malayalam audience. Till now he did more than 100 serials in Malayalam.

Later he entered into film field and his first movie was Swathi Thirunal inn 1987 directed by . He then acted in many movies like Oru Sayahnathinte Swapnam, Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu, Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu ,Uppukandam Brothers Back in Action ,The Dolphins etc. He also did the job of newsreader in Doordarshan in 1980s and produced almost 200 documentary films.

Ravi Vallathol is married to Geethalakshmi and the couple didn’t bless with children. They started a organization named Thanal for the mentally retarded children in 1988.the real actor inside Ravi was identified by his father and in almost all interviews and his writing he mentions about his father.
