Shanavas was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India to legendary actor Prem Nazir and Habeeba Biwi. He has three elder sisters. Shanavas did his schooling from Yercaud and completed his Master’s degree from The New College, Chennai. Shanavas made his debut in the year 1981 with the Malayalam film Premageethangal. This movie was moderately successful. Though after this film, Shanavas went on to star in a number of Tamil and Malayalam films, but he was unable to create magic among the audiences and failed to repeat or achieve the success of that of his father Legendary actor of the Malayalam films actor Prem Nazir.
